From Swaps to Celebrations

This phase explores the introduction of Swap Points: Earn points for skill exchanges and use them to unlock college events, all tracked through vibrant, customizable Swap Cards.

Solution

Brainstorming Engagement: Evaluating New Concepts

Four unique ideas were crafted to enhance user engagement and retention. Fellow designers evaluated each concept, providing valuable insights to determine the most effective solution for driving active participation.

The concept of swap points

Earn 20 points for every skill swap! Swap Points make collaborations rewarding, motivating users to engage actively while keeping the system simple and effective.

Lessons, Insights, and What I'd Do Differently

Working on SkillSwap 2.0 was an incredibly rewarding experience, as it allowed me to dive deep into enhancing user engagement through thoughtful design choices. Discovering concepts like redeemable points for events brought a sense of cohesion and elevated the app’s vision significantly.

What I Learned

  1. Feedback is a game-changer

Collaborating with fellow designers helped refine my ideas and validate my design decisions. Their constructive challenges pushed me to think more critically.

  1. Designing with clarity

Approaching the project step-by-step helped me present my ideas in a way that was easy to understand, ensuring the design journey was clear and impactful.

Some things I’d do differently...

  • Explore alternative point-based systems to make rewards even more dynamic and engaging.

  • Test Swap Card designs with users at earlier stages to align them more closely with user preferences.

  • Spend additional time experimenting with how gamification elements influence the overall app experience.

This project reminded me how crucial it is to combine creativity with practical insights, resulting in a design that is both innovative and user-focused.
